At the beginning of the school year, mornings were TERRIBLE. I mean it. I would get Jack up at 6:30, we would get him dressed, wash hands, make bed, eat breakfast, and out the door at 7:15. Oh, it was TERRIBLE.
Jack didn't want to go to school, all of our moods were poor at the beginning of each day, and this Mother changed it.
Jack now gets up around 6:00 (!! early !!) and it has made all the difference in the world. I go in and snuggle with him, the first words he hears after a morning smooch are I love you. I ask him if he had sweet dreams, sometimes he remembers them, sometimes he doesn't, and sometimes I think he just makes some up! Jack then, 75% still asleep, picks out two babies to take downstairs and I carry him. My five and a half year old reverts back to the 'olden days' and I am eating it up. He rests that big 'ole head on my shoulder, the babies are around my neck as he is squeezing tightly, and I have my arms wrapped all the way around him so I make sure I don't drop the kid going down the stairs! I put him on the couch, wrap him up with a blanket, turn on the tv, and he sets up those babies, every single morning, to watch with him!
If I have learned, being the 'hard' way it was, my boy likes to wake up slowly...and I completely understand. I have to set the alarm to wake up even earlier, so I can have my coffee in peace before everyone else moves about me (except for Niki, she comes down with me, lays on her rug, and expects an extended rub down with no interruptions!).
Jack sips his orange juice, watches Word World and a bit of Wild Kratts (currently probably his absolute favorite show), we pause it, go upstairs to get dressed, wash hands, fix hair, and make the bed, go back down to eat and finish Wild Kratts, he then goes back upstairs to brush his teeth and Jack and his Daddy are out the door. Yes. Jason takes Jack to school every morning and I pick Jack up. Isn't that funny?!
That is our morning routine, Monday through Friday, and now it works.
....except for when Jack has gone to bed late the night before. But that is for another post. We go back to things being TERRIBLE!

Yes, I have learned to give "The Little One" plenty of time in the morning. My issue is that Gabe likes to talk and can't get anything done when he is talking. Gabriel also loves Wild Kratts.
